12+ years of software engineering · Headquartered in Braga, Portugal

We build it. Or we find who will.

Codentures designs, builds and modernises business-critical software, and places verified engineers inside the teams that run it. More than twelve years of delivery for fintech, healthcare, travel and SaaS companies, now engineered from Portugal for clients on both sides of the Atlantic.

What we engineer

A typical system shape we work in, from the top down: web, mobile and portal experiences; an API layer handling validation, authorisation and versioning; identity, domain and event services; and a foundation of PostgreSQL, SQL Server and integrations with external systems.

Software delivered. Engineers verified. One engineering standard behind both.

Two ways to work with us

Two ways to engage one engineering team

Some clients need a problem taken off their hands and returned as a working system. Others know exactly what to build and need proven engineers to build it with them. Codentures does both, with the same engineers, the same standard and one contract.

Software delivery

You need an outcome, and a team accountable for it.

We take a business problem and hand back a working, documented system. Codentures owns the architecture, the engineering standard and the delivery commitment, with every change reviewed by a second senior engineer.

Codentures owns

  • Architecture decisions and their consequences
  • Code quality, enforced by a written standard and peer review
  • Scope, sequencing and transparent status reporting
  • Testing, accessibility and security of everything we ship

You own

  • Business priorities and acceptance
  • Access to the people who know the current system
  • Scope and trade-off decisions only you can make

Not for: Open-ended staff augmentation. If you want an engineer in your standup under your direction, technology talent is the better fit.

Technology talent

You need engineers in your team, and you will lead them.

We verify, contract and place engineers who work inside your team under your direction. Four verification layers before you see a profile, a written scorecard for every candidate, and Codentures handling contracting, invoicing and compliance for as long as the engagement runs.

Codentures owns

  • Sourcing and four-layer verification against your brief
  • Contracting through our Portuguese company, with IP and confidentiality terms from day one
  • Invoicing, contractor payment and cross-border compliance
  • Replacement sourcing if a placement does not work out

You own

  • Day-to-day direction and sprint planning
  • Code review and technical standards
  • Onboarding into your systems
  • Performance feedback

Not for: Teams without anyone to review the work. In that case a dedicated delivery team is the right purchase, and we will say so on the first call.

Why Codentures

Why clients choose us, and stay

Long engagements are built on predictable delivery and reliable information. Those are the two things we organise the company around.

  • Engineers, not intermediaries

Every engagement is scoped and led by engineers who have built the kind of system you need. The people who estimate the work are the people accountable for delivering it.

  • Twelve years of accountable delivery

Our team has delivered for fintech, healthcare, travel, education and enterprise clients for more than a decade. The habits came with us: written decisions, predictable releases and status reports you can forward.

  • A European base with international reach

An EU company, EU contracts and verified right to work, with working hours that overlap London, Central Europe and the US East Coast. One contract and one invoice, whichever engineers you work with.

  • Candour you can plan around

We tell you early when an estimate moves, when a rewrite is the wrong call, or when a smaller engagement will do. Clients stay because the information they get from us is reliable.

Technology talent

Engineers verified before they reach you

Every candidate passes four verification layers. You receive a focused shortlist with a written scorecard per engineer, including our reservations, and interview only people worth your time.

  1. Profile and right-to-work verification

We confirm that the CV's claims can be checked and that the right to work is real, at the first layer rather than at contract time.

  2. Communication screen

A real conversation, because most contract engagements fail on communication before they fail on code. Can they explain a decision? Do they say "I don't know" when it is true?

  3. Written technical assessment

Work we can read: reasoning about code they did not write, which is the daily reality of joining your team. No puzzles.

  4. Live technical interview

Run by a senior engineer, in the actual stack, against documented criteria for the tier, so every candidate is measured the same way.

Common questions

Codentures, in plain terms

Straight answers to what prospective clients ask us most. More detail on software services and technology talent.

What does Codentures do?

Codentures is a software engineering company headquartered in Braga, Portugal. It designs, builds and modernises business-critical systems: custom software, application and cloud modernisation, integration architecture, identity and single sign-on, AI and platform integrations, mobile apps, and dedicated delivery teams. It also supplies verified contract engineers who work inside client teams under the client's direction. Both services share one engineering standard.

What is the difference between software delivery and technology talent?

With software delivery, Codentures owns the outcome: architecture decisions, peer review against a written standard, and accountability for what ships. With technology talent, you lead the engineer: you set priorities and review the code, while Codentures sources, verifies, contracts and invoices. Talent is faster to start and more economical; delivery carries the accountability.

Where is Codentures based, and where are its clients?

Codentures is a trade name of Semântica Nómada Lda, headquartered in Braga, Portugal. Its engineers are based in Portugal, across the European Union and in India. Clients operate in the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States, and the delivery model is set up for full-day overlap with UK and European teams and morning overlap with US Eastern Time.

Can UK and US companies work with Codentures?

Yes. UK clients contract with Codentures on a B2B basis, and we support your off-payroll (IR35) status determination for each engagement. US clients contract under a master services agreement with statements of work, and delivery is scheduled around the Eastern Time working morning. Quotes are available in EUR, GBP or USD.

How long has Codentures been delivering software?

The Codentures team has more than twelve years of software delivery and consulting experience and has delivered more than twenty client engagements. The practice began in India, delivering for international clients in fintech, education, healthcare and enterprise identity, and is now headquartered in Portugal to work alongside its European and UK clients in the same time zone and under EU law.

How quickly can Codentures place an engineer?

Typically one to four weeks from brief to start, because sourcing runs continuously rather than starting when you call. Common .NET, Azure and full-stack profiles move fastest. If a brief is going to take longer than four weeks, we say so at the start rather than letting a search run quietly.

What technologies does Codentures specialise in?

.NET, C# and ASP.NET Core on Microsoft Azure are the centre of our work, alongside SQL Server and PostgreSQL. For interfaces we use Next.js, React and Angular, and for mobile, React Native and native Android. We integrate with Service Bus, Event Hubs, Entra ID, Okta, Stripe, Adyen, OpenAI, Anthropic and enterprise LMS standards, and we work in AWS where a client's estate already lives there.

Does Codentures build mobile apps?

Yes. Codentures builds iOS and Android apps in React Native, with native Kotlin or Java modules where hardware, a vendor SDK or performance requires them. Apps are designed offline-first, profiled on low-end devices and released through automated pipelines to the App Store and Google Play. Because the same team can build the .NET and Azure backend, the API between app and server is designed once rather than negotiated between suppliers.

Does Codentures build AI features?

Yes. We integrate large language models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI and open-source providers into production systems, and treat them like any other critical dependency: timeouts, retries, cost and usage monitoring, fallbacks and evaluation. That includes real-time voice assistants that turn speech into a model response and a spoken reply over WebRTC. Our engineers also use AI-assisted development tools in their daily work, under the same review standard as any other code.

Tell us what you need to deliver

A system to build or modernise, or engineers to strengthen your team. The first conversation is with a senior engineer, and you will leave it with a clear recommendation.
